Jaume Sanchis | Clarinet Teacher

Jaume Sanchis, born in Valencia, Spain, began his musical studies at the local conservatory and later received a scholarship from the Valencia Conselleria d’Educació i Ciència. He furthered his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Professor Horst Hajek. He has won awards at multiple international competitions, including the Premio Valentino Bucchi in Rome and the Haverhill Sinfonia International Soloist Competition in the United Kingdom. Sanchis has performed extensively across Spain, Austria, Italy, the United Kingdom, and China, and has given masterclasses in Valencia, Barcelona, Seville, Beijing, and other cities in Spain. As an orchestral clarinetist, he is a member of Spain’s Gran Teatre del Liceu Symphony Orchestra and has served as principal clarinet in France, Austria, the United States, and most recently at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in China. He also holds the position of principal clarinet with the China National Performing Arts Symphony Orchestra. Sanchis has recorded contemporary music for Spanish National Radio, Catalonia Radio, the “ALEPH” Foundation in Barcelona, and “BELLATERRA MUSIC” A.C.A. He has also recorded works by Francis Poulenc, Carles Guinovart, Camille Saint-Saëns, and Osias Willenski for Navona Records and Naxos America.

Micky Wrobleski | Tuba Teacher

Micky Wrobleski is a chamber musician, educator, composer, and recording artist. In 1997, he was appointed Principal Tuba of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the training orchestra for the world-renowned Chicago Symphony Orchestra. During his time in Chicago, in addition to his duties with the Civic Orchestra, he frequently appeared as second tuba with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with many prestigious ensembles, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, Macau Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, China National Symphony Orchestra, National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra, and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. He has also contributed to numerous television programs, radio broadcasts, and film soundtracks. As a composer and arranger, Micky’s works have been performed and recorded by artists worldwide. He has been commissioned to compose numerous solo tuba works with various accompaniment arrangements, which have been performed and recorded repeatedly by top musicians across Asia, Europe, and the United States. Micky is the founder and president of the International Tuba and Euphonium Association China Chapter. In 2014, he was featured on the cover of the ITA Fall Journal and interviewed in the article “From the Back Row”, where he shared insights on music history and advice for professional tuba and euphonium players worldwide. As a highly sought-after educator, Micky has given masterclasses across Asia and serves as a tuba professor at the China Conservatory of Music. His students hold principal tuba positions in major professional orchestras throughout China.

Cao Hai | Viola Instructor

Cao Hai is a viola instructor at East Coast Music Experimental School, a young violist at the Central Conservatory of Music, an associate professor, and a master’s supervisor. He is also a guest professor of viola at the China Conservatory of Music. In late 1996, he was invited by the German World Youth Symphony Orchestra to participate in a concert tour at the German Music Festival, serving as Associate Principal Viola. In 1998, he was sent by China’s Ministry of Culture to the United Kingdom for the China–UK Diplomatic Music and Cultural Exchange. Young musicians from both countries performed together, with Cao playing on a renowned Italian instrument. Their performance at the Royal Festival Hall in March was a great success. He later embarked on the first Asia tour using this Italian viola, receiving high acclaim from both domestic and international music communities. Between 2008 and 2014, he led the China Youth Symphony Orchestra to perform at venues including the Berlin Concert Hall, the Salzburg Festival in Austria, and concerts in South Korea, delivering outstanding performances. In 2015, he was appointed Senior Masterclass Lecturer in Strings at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

Chai Liang | Renowned Violinist, Conductor, and Music Educator

Chai Liang began studying the violin at the age of ten and entered the Affiliated Middle School of Shenyang Conservatory of Music at twelve. In 1986, he was exceptionally admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music without entrance examinations, studying under the celebrated violin pedagogue Professor Lin Yaoji. After four years, he graduated with top honors—ranking first in the entire school for four consecutive years—and received a full scholarship to pursue further studies at the University of Southern California. After one year in the United States, he was awarded another full scholarship to attend the Juilliard School, where he studied under the legendary “Grand Dame of the Violin,” Professor Dorothy DeLay, and earned his Master’s degree. Chai Liang has performed with numerous major orchestras worldwide, including: Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (London) Manchester Symphony Orchestra Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra Sydney Philharmonia Orchestra (also as guest soloist) Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra Korean Symphony Orchestra Singapore Symphony Orchestra Grand Canyon Music Festival Symphony Orchestra (USA) Aspen Music Festival Young Artists Orchestra Wartburg Symphony Orchestra As well as orchestras in New York, Los Angeles, and across China, such as the China Philharmonic Orchestra, China Film Orchestra, Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, and Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. Driven by his commitment to advancing music education in China, Chai Liang remains active both as a performer and conductor while dedicating even more passion to teaching. He has tirelessly nurtured numerous outstanding young musicians. He has served on the faculties of: The Juilliard School Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music (NY) Shanghai Conservatory of Music Central Conservatory of Music, where he also served as Head of the Violin Department In 1997, when Isaac Stern left his teaching post at New York University, Chai Liang became one of the two successors selected for the position, recognized for his exceptional artistry and teaching. His students have won awards in major international competitions and have been admitted to top institutions such as the Juilliard School, Curtis Institute of Music, and have gone on to prestigious performance and teaching careers.

Chen Guang | Trumpet Instructor

In 1999, Chen Guang received the Zubin Mehta Scholarship and was sent to Vienna, Austria, for advanced studies, where he trained under Josef Pomberger, principal trumpet of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and Professor Adolf Holler. During his time in Vienna, he performed on multiple occasions with the Vienna State Opera, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, and the Vienna Strauss Orchestra. In June 2005, he graduated with top honors from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. After returning to China, he served as guest principal trumpet with major orchestras including the China Philharmonic Orchestra, China National Symphony Orchestra, National Ballet of China Orchestra, and the philharmonic orchestras of Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou. From July 2008 to 2012, he was invited to perform with the Asia Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of renowned conductor Myung-Whun Chung, serving as principal trumpet. In 2010, he was invited to perform as principal trumpet in the Worldwide Chinese Festival Orchestra New Year Concert. Between 2011 and 2013, he performed with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra as guest principal trumpet. From 2012 to 2014, he was invited to join the Singapore Symphony Orchestra concert seasons and recording projects, also as principal trumpet. In 2013–2014, he participated in the CCTV programs “China’s Top Ten Wind Players” and “China’s Top Ten Trumpet Players.” He has given masterclasses at numerous Chinese conservatories and art institutions, earning high praise from peers and students alike. He is widely recognized as one of China’s most talented trumpet virtuosos.

Chen Xun | Flute Instructor

From 2011 to 2013, Chen Xun served as principal flute of the Asian Youth Orchestra for three consecutive years, touring Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia. He was interviewed by Hong Kong Radio, Japan’s NHK Television, and The Wall Street Journal. Lianhe Zaobao (Singapore) praised his performance as “a perfect interpretation on the flute.” In 2012, Chen Xun received a full scholarship from the Royal Academy of Music (UK) to pursue his Master’s degree—becoming the first and only Chinese flutist in the Academy’s history to receive a full award. In the same year, he was also admitted to Boston University, Peabody Institute, and the Royal College of Music. At the Royal Academy of Music, he studied under William Bennett and Karen Jones, presented multiple solo recitals, and in 2013 performed with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, earning high acclaim. After completing his Master’s degree, Chen Xun was appointed Flute Assistant Instructor at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University (USA). In 2015, he returned to China to join the China Radio & Film Symphony Orchestra as Principal Flutist, becoming the youngest principal player in the orchestra.

Fu Hong | Piano Instructor

Born in Beijing, Fu Hong began studying piano at the age of five and held her first recital at ten. At eleven, she was admitted to the Affiliated Middle School of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and at twenty-one she graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory. During her studies in Shanghai, she trained under distinguished professors including Kang Quefei, Zhang Yuqing, Xiao Ming, and Wu Leyi. In October 1989, she entered the postgraduate program at the University of Music Karlsruhe in Germany, later joining the master class of Professor Wolfgang Genuit, focusing on piano solo and chamber music. In 1996, she completed six graduation recitals, all receiving the highest score, earning both the Konzertexamen Diploma in piano performance (the highest performance degree awarded by German conservatories) and the Artist Diploma in chamber music. While in Germany, she also received guidance from renowned masters such as D. Joffe, D. Bashkirov, and A. Braginsky. Fu Hong has received numerous awards, including: Young Musicians Promotion Society Award, Hanover, Germany (1990) 2nd Prize, Piano Solo Competition, Karlsruhe Music Festival (1990) Brahms Society Award, Baden-Baden (1992) Richard Wagner Scholarship (1995) 1st Prize, Paris International Chamber Music Competition (1996) With extensive experience in solo and chamber music performance, Fu Hong has given recitals, concerto performances, and chamber music concerts across Europe and Asia for decades. She has collaborated with conductors such as P. Eötvös, Ye Cong, Yang Youqing, and Jin Ye, and has maintained long-term partnerships with musicians including E. Kufferath, W. Ranck, A. Breuninger, M. Vaiman, K. McCall, and Peter Veale. Her performances of works by Schumann, Bartók, Chopin, Debussy, Prokofiev, and others have been broadcast on German SWR television and recorded on CD. In 2010, she formed the “Yu” Piano Duo with pianist Yu Meina, presenting concerts, recording CDs, producing duo-piano teaching materials, and incorporating Chinese piano works into the repertoire. In recent years, she has also formed the “Peace” Piano Trio with cellist Zhu Yibing and violinist Yang Min, presenting concerts, lectures, and other musical projects. In 2009, together with Professor P. Eicher of the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts, she co-founded the Sino-German Mannheim Piano Summer Camp, offering masterclasses and concerts. Fu Hong has served as a jury member for major international and national piano competitions, including the Santa Cecília International Piano Competition (Portugal), FVG International Piano Competition (Italy), and the Carles & Sofia International Piano Competition (Spain). Her students have won numerous international and domestic awards. Since 1990, she has taught at five music institutions and conservatories in Germany, including the Baden Conservatory and Brighton Music School. Since March 2007, she has served as Associate Professor and Master’s Supervisor at the China Conservatory of Music, teaching undergraduate and middle-school piano majors. In 2009, she introduced the chamber music curriculum for graduate students, filling an important gap in the Piano Department’s academic offerings.

Guan Changxin | Piano Instructor

As a prizewinner of the First National Piano Invitational Competition (1992) and First Prize winner of the 1998 Martin Memorial Piano Competition (USA), Guan Changxin has been invited to give solo recitals, chamber music performances, masterclasses, and lectures in numerous cities, conservatories, and arts festivals both in China and abroad. He has frequently served as a jury member for major national and international piano competitions, as well as for piano entrance examinations for musically gifted students at leading universities in Beijing. Many of his students have won awards in major competitions and received scholarships to study at renowned music institutions overseas. Guan studied under distinguished professors Ying Shizhen, Zhao Pingguo, Li Huili, and Yang Jun at the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM), completing both the Affiliated Middle School and the undergraduate program, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance. During his graduate studies, he completed a thesis and graduation recital on Rachmaninoff’s 24 Preludes, earning his Master’s degree. In 1996, he received a scholarship to study in the United States under Hungarian-American pianist Dr. Tamás Ungár at the School of Music, Texas Christian University, where he earned a second Master’s degree in Piano Performance. During his studies, he served as Assistant Artistic Director and Administrative Assistant for the Cliburn International Piano Masterclass. In 2002, Guan returned to China to join the Piano Department of the China Conservatory of Music, where he took on substantial responsibilities in curriculum development during the department’s early years. He has served as Head of the Piano Performance Division and currently holds the positions of Associate Professor, Master’s Supervisor, and Coordinator of International Exchange. As one of the primary founders of the Beijing International Piano Festival (BIPF), he served as Assistant Artistic Director and committee member from 2006 to 2008. He is also Resident Guest Artist and China Regional Director of the Colorado International Piano Academy and Competition (CIPA) in the United States. In addition to private applied lessons, he teaches theoretical and historical courses such as Introduction to Piano Art and History of Keyboard Music. His articles and translations have been published in core academic journals including Chinese Music, Art Education, and professional journal Piano Artistry. He has been repeatedly recognized by students of the China Conservatory with honors such as “Outstanding Teacher,” “Excellent General Studies Teacher,” “The Best Teacher in My Mind,” and “My Favorite Major Instructor.”

He Shucong | Violin Instructor

He Shucong is a Young Artist of the Hefeng Arts Foundation and Concertmaster of the M.G. New Youth Orchestra. He is the Gold Medalist of the 3rd CCTV National Violin Competition, a laureate of the 10th China Golden Bell Awards and the 10th Wenhua Awards, and winner of numerous major international and national prizes including the Professional Gold Medal of the Asia Strings Competition, the Jury Prize of the Brahms International Violin Competition in Austria, Third Prize at the inaugural Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition for Young Artists, and the Special Prize named after the legendary violinist Stokowski. As a soloist, He Shucong has collaborated with distinguished conductors such as Yu Long, Wu Lingfen, Zhu Qiyuan, Zhang Liang, Jing Huan, Xiao Ming, Xia Xiaotang, Hong Yin, John Nelson, and Vladimir Lande, performing with renowned orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, China Philharmonic Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Changsha Symphony Orchestra, Chongqing Philharmonic Orchestra, Changying Orchestra, China Youth Symphony Orchestra, Tianjin Opera House Symphony Orchestra, and the Siberian State Symphony Orchestra of Russia. Active on major stages worldwide, his performances have taken him to more than twenty countries and numerous major concert halls across China. During the 2022 concert season, he appeared with the Changsha Symphony, Xiamen Philharmonic, Hangzhou Philharmonic, and Chongqing Philharmonic, and embarked on a recital tour to over thirty cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Wuhan, and Hangzhou. Born in Tianjin, He Shucong was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) for both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees with the top ranking in the nation. He is also the first and only recipient of the Artist Diploma from the National University of Singapore, awarded with a full scholarship. He has studied under distinguished professors including Chen Jixu, Chai Liang, Yu Bing, Qian Zhou, Pierre Amoyal, and violin maestro Shlomo Mintz. Due to his exceptional achievements, he was selected in 2012 for the Ministry of Culture and CCOM’s “BOB Elite Innovative Talent Program” and received national special funding support. He has been sponsored by the Edifier Musicians Fund and the Wahaha Music Foundation, and has received guidance and high praise from renowned violinists such as Ivry Gitlis, Pinchas Zukerman, Viktor Tretyakov, Vadim Repin, and Midori. Deeply passionate about chamber music, He Shucong has collaborated with leading musicians including violinists Lü Siqing, Qian Zhou, and Shlomo Mintz; pianist Sun Yingdi; and cellist Qin Liwei. He founded the Voyage Trio (Olive Tree Piano Trio), which was featured on China National Radio and launched a national tour in 2016. He later co-founded the Pentagon Piano Quintet, serving as first violin, and won a prize at the 9th China Golden Bell Award for Piano and Strings Chamber Music. He is a member of the CCOM Masters Chamber Ensemble and the Beijing Accent Soloists Chamber Ensemble, and participated in the recording of “To the Moon,” the theme for China’s Lunar Exploration Program. In 2021, he was invited to serve as Concertmaster of the M.G. New Youth Orchestra and performed at the 76th UN Day and the 50th Anniversary of the restoration of the PRC’s lawful seat in the United Nations. He has also served as Concertmaster of the China Youth Symphony Orchestra, Guest Concertmaster of the Beijing Accent Symphony Orchestra, and Guest Concertmaster of the Chongqing Festival Symphony Orchestra. In 2021, He Shucong was honored to be authorized by the Mu Xin Art Museum as the first performer of the late writer-artist Mu Xin’s unpublished manuscript compositions, presented at Mu Xin’s former residence, the “Wanqing Cottage.”

Hu Xiaoxue | Piano Instructor

Hu Xiaoxue graduated from the Piano Department of the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) in 1994, where she studied under Professors Guo Zhihong and Li Qifang. In 2002, she earned her Master of Music degree from the School of Music at Texas Christian University, studying with Hungarian-American pianist Professor Tamás Ungár. Upon returning to China in 2002, Hu joined the High School Affiliated to the China Conservatory of Music, where she served successively as Deputy Director and Director of the Piano Department. Over the past two decades, she has achieved remarkable results in her teaching career: her students have won prizes at numerous major competitions, including the Chopin International Piano Competition for Children and Youth, Vienna Piano Competition, Schumann International Youth Piano Competition in Germany, Eastman International Youth Piano Competition (USA), Steinway National Youth Piano Competition, Thomas–Huber Cup International Youth Piano Competition (China region), and the Imola International Piano Competition (China Finals), among many others. In the 2013 First National Piano Competition of the “Little Golden Bell Award” (organized by the Chinese Musicians Association), her student won the Silver Medal in the Junior Professional Category. In the 2015 Yamaha Piano Competition · Academy Grand Prize, her student won First Place among all national conservatory participants. Her students have also received numerous awards in various amateur piano competitions. Hu Xiaoxue has performed in concerts in the United States, Finland, and at the Xi’an Concert Hall, and has given academic lectures at many institutions across China. She has published several educational materials, including the instructional DVDs Rapid Piano Learning for Adults Without a Teacher, Adult Quick Piano Study – Classical Masterpieces, and Comprehensive Guide to Piano Grading Exams. She has been repeatedly recognized as an Outstanding Educator by both the China Conservatory of Music and its affiliated high school, and has been awarded titles for Excellent Teaching Guidance in various piano competitions. Beyond her institutional roles, Hu has served as an arts talent admissions adjudicator for prestigious universities such as Tsinghua University and Beihang University, and has frequently served as a judge for national youth piano competitions. She is also actively involved in public-service music education initiatives.

Ji Jingjing | Bassoon Instructor

Ji Jingjing is a renowned Chinese bassoon soloist based in Germany. As a leading figure among the new generation of post-80s bassoonists, chamber musicians, and orchestral principals, he has long been active on major stages worldwide and has earned significant international recognition. In 2002, at the age of nineteen, Ji became the first Chinese bassoonist to perform at the concert hall of the Saarbrücken University of Music in Germany, marking the beginning of his professional performance career. His debut caused a sensation in Germany, a country regarded as a global authority in classical music. Bassoon virtuoso and educator Prof. Marc Engelhardt praised him as “the hope for the future of bassoon performance in China and a rare new star in the international bassoon world.” Oboe master Prof. Amin Aussen admired his “genius-like understanding of German music at such a young age,” especially as an Asian musician. From 2003 to 2006, Ji was repeatedly invited to perform solo Bach programs at the Schlusskirche in Saarland, becoming the first non-European musician to be featured. In 2004, he was invited by the Homburg Symphony Orchestra to perform Kreutzer’s Variations for Bassoon and Orchestra, where conductor Voss praised him as “the finest Chinese bassoonist I have ever encountered.” In 2005, he was selected from more than a hundred musicians to perform at the “Russian Music Night” Festival in Saarland and successfully presented a solo recital. Throughout his years in Germany, Ji devoted himself to chamber music, founding the Asia Quintet, Asia Quartet, Asia Trio, and Asia Duo. These ensembles performed extensively across Germany in chamber halls and churches. Clarinet legend and chamber music educator Prof. Eduard Brunner offered strong support and high recognition, calling their work “the future of Asian chamber music and a powerful new force for bringing Asian repertoire to the world.” In 2008, Brunner invited Ji to join his nonet for a special chamber concert, which was hailed by the media as “extraordinary” and “an unparalleled artistic experience.” Ji was personally received and highly commended by the Governor of Saarland. In 2009, Ji was invited by the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing to participate in its concert featuring outstanding Chinese musicians based in Germany. He has returned to China multiple times to lead chamber music concerts that drew significant professional acclaim. In 2012, he performed with the NCPA Orchestra under Maestro Vladimir Ashkenazy at the NCPA Concert Hall, and in 2013 he once again appeared as soloist in works by Richard Strauss. Ji’s extensive orchestral experience has shaped him into one of the most versatile and sought-after bassoon principals internationally. Currently the Principal Bassoon of the National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra—and its first-ever bassoon principal—he has earned consistent praise from world-renowned conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Kent Nagano, Myung-Whun Chung, Christoph Eschenbach, Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Joe Hisaishi, Lü Jia, Yu Feng, Zhang Guoyong, and others. He has collaborated with celebrated soloists including Jörg Widmann, Leo Nucci, Plácido Domingo, Lang Lang, Li Biao, He Hui, Lü Siqing, Ning Feng, and Sabine Meyer. In 2013, when Lorin Maazel led a special production of The Ring Without Words with twelve principal musicians of the Berlin Philharmonic joining the NCPA Orchestra, Ji—then the only local wind principal—received unanimous praise from Maazel and all twelve Berlin Philharmonic principals. In 2018, he joined the principal woodwind players of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra for the Beijing–Hong Kong Woodwind Chamber Tour, achieving great success. Throughout his tenure, Ji has performed nearly twenty symphonic programs and seven operas annually, maintaining an exceptionally high standard of repertoire breadth and performance quality.

Jin Ping | Composition Instructor

Jin Ping holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. He is currently a Professor in the Composition Department and Director of the Electronic Music Center at the China Conservatory of Music. Prior to 2008, he served as a tenured professor at the State University of New York (SUNY). Jin has received numerous honors, including First Prize in China’s inaugural Art Song Competition, the Wenhua Award for Composition at the Golden Bell Awards, and the highest individual project award from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) for his sextet. He previously served as President of the Society for New Music (USA) and Chair of the Davenport Orchestral Composition Competition. He is an advisor to the Arnold Schönberg Center in Vienna and a member of ASCAP, the American Composers Alliance, and the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).

Wenbin Jin | Piano Teacher

Wenbin Jin was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music’s Affiliated High School at the age of 12, ranking first in his entrance exam, under the tutelage of renowned piano educator Professor Zhang Jin. In 2006, he received a full scholarship to Yale School of Music, becoming the youngest piano performance master’s student in the school’s history, studying with Russian-American pianist Boris Berman. In 2009, he again received a full scholarship to the New England Conservatory, studying under renowned Chinese-American pianist and educator Professor Hongkuan Chen. He graduated with top honors in 2013 and continued at Yale to pursue an Artist Diploma and the Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree, graduating in 2015 with the highest distinction and the “Outstanding Graduate Award.” Wenbin Jin is the first and only Chinese pianist to achieve top rankings in all three major international piano competitions recognized by China’s Ministry of Culture. He has won First Prize at the Shanghai International Piano Competition, Second Prize at the China International Piano Competition, and Third Prize at the Shenzhen International Piano Concerto Competition, earning commendation from Minister Cai Wu. In 2015, he released his debut album on the world-renowned label Naxos, featuring Liszt’s complete Transcendental Etudes. He has performed with prominent orchestras including the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Macau Symphony Orchestra, and Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, collaborating with distinguished conductors such as Christian Ehwald, Lin Daye, Tan Lihua, and Zhang Liang. Since 2016, Wenbin Jin has served as Deputy Director of the Performing Arts Center at Beijing Keystone Academy, dedicated to nurturing the next generation of outstanding musicians.

Fanglei Liu | Violin Teacher

Fanglei Liu, a German-trained violinist from China, has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras including the Deutsche Symphonie Berlin, Magdeburg Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Morocco, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Harbin Symphony Orchestra, and Southwest German Chamber Orchestra. She was the resident artist at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium for the 2014–2015 season, performing multiple solo recitals for the Belgian Royal Family and European Union dignitaries. In 2015–2016, Liu created and performed the contemporary opera Be with Me Now for the European Network of Opera Academies (ENOA), touring seven national theaters, including the Provence Music Festival (France), Britten Festival (UK), Paris Opera, Warsaw National Opera, Lisbon Gulbenkian Hall, and Munich Philharmonie, earning widespread acclaim. In 2016–2017, she represented the German Federal Cultural Foundation with solo performances at the German Embassy in Rome and the European Summit in Prague. She returned to China in late 2018 to join the Tianjin Conservatory of Music as a faculty member in the orchestral department. Liu has been engaged with prestigious ensembles such as the Berlin State Opera, Zistan Chamber Orchestra, Lucerne Festival Orchestra, and Cologne Philharmonic. In 2019, she was invited as guest concertmaster for the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, collaborating with Hong Kong Ballet in the box-office hits Symphonic McDull Series and the Hong Kong premiere of Peter Pan (ballet). Her accolades include awards from the Harbin International Music Competition, German Federal Cultural Music Competition, Berlin Conservatory Violin Competition, and CCTV Piano & Violin Competition. She has performed in over 20 countries, collaborating with distinguished musicians including conductor and pianist Christoph Eschenbach, Tokyo String Quartet, violist Nobuko Imai, and cellist Christoph Henkel. Born in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, Liu entered the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Affiliated Primary School in 2002 and moved to Berlin in 2010 to study under former Berlin Philharmonic concertmaster Professor Kolja Blacher. She holds two master’s degrees in violin performance from the Berlin University of the Arts and Berlin University of Music, and she is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in violin performance under department head Professor Mark Gothoni at the Berlin University of the Arts.

Yingge Liu | Soprano, Opera & Concert Producer, Music Education Planner

Yingge Liu is a U.S.-trained soprano, opera and concert producer, and a planner and executor of music education projects. She received a full scholarship for an Artist Diploma at Indiana University and earned her master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music. Recently, she performed the lead role Blanche de la Force in Poulenc’s opera Dialogues of the Carmelites in the U.S., collaborating with Francesca Zambello, Music Director of the Washington National Opera. In 2016, she was invited to perform the role of Doctor Hong in the original Chinese opera The Long March at the National Centre for the Performing Arts. Her performances have been featured at major opera festivals in New York, Italy, Spain, and France, earning widespread acclaim. Liu has served as a key producer for numerous operas, including Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute with German director Peer Boysen, Puccini’s Il Trittico, Cosi fan tutte with British director Steafan Janski, and the musical Don Quixote with U.S. director Joseph Graves. She also has extensive experience in international arts collaboration, having managed international cooperation and foreign affairs projects for the Peking University Opera Research Institute. Within four years, she oversaw the planning and production of more than 20 major domestic and international concerts and opera performances and founded the Santa Fe Summer International Music Festival in New Mexico, USA.

Ying Liu | Percussion Teacher

Ying Liu is a member of the Chinese Musicians Association and an executive director of the Percussion Society of China. She studied at the Central Conservatory of Music Affiliated High School from 1984 to 1987 and, due to outstanding performance, was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music’s Orchestra Department in 1987, studying under percussion educator Professor Liu Guangsi. In 1991, she joined the China National Radio Symphony Orchestra and later pursued further studies at the Sibelius Academy in Finland in 1997. Since 2000, she has served as the principal timpanist of the China Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist, Ying Liu was active on the Beijing stage as early as the 1990s, performing marimba and percussion solos with major orchestras. Media outlets such as CCTV, China Talent, and Writers Digest have featured her in interviews under titles like “A Brilliant Life of Drums and Mallets” and “China’s First Female Percussionist,” highlighting both her virtuosity and humility. She has held principal percussion positions with the China Youth Symphony Orchestra, China Women’s Symphony Orchestra, and China National Radio Symphony Orchestra, and is frequently invited by orchestras across China as principal timpanist. Ying Liu has long been committed to teaching, both at the Central Conservatory of Music and its affiliated high school, mentoring students who are now active performers and educators across China. She is also a regular jury member for national percussion competitions. Recognized for her excellence and professionalism, she has received multiple honors, including “Advanced Individual” and “Model Female Contributor” awards from the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television. Over the past two decades, she has performed extensively with the China Philharmonic Orchestra, collaborating with numerous world-class artists and performing a wide repertoire internationally.

Wei Ni

Wei Ni is a trombone instructor at the Central Conservatory of Music and serves as the principal trombonist of the Central Conservatory Symphony Orchestra as well as the Cottbus Symphony Orchestra in Germany. He holds a Doctor of Music in Trombone from the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin and is a contracted artist with the American S.E. Shires Trombone company. Wei Ni is also a member of the Low Brass Professional Committee of the China National Association for Chinese Musicians.

Jialu Qu | Viola Teacher

Jialu Qu is a first-rank violist of the China National Symphony Orchestra, a guest instructor at the Beijing Dongcheng District Jinfan Orchestra, and a guest reviewer for master’s programs at Minzu University of China. From 1998 to 2002, she studied at the Orchestral Department of the Central Conservatory of Music under the guidance of renowned violist and educator Professor He Rong. In 2002, she was admitted to the China National Symphony Orchestra with outstanding performance. She earned a Master of Arts degree from the Central Conservatory of Music in 2009. As a professional performer, Qu frequently participates in international music festivals and cultural exchange events. She has received guidance from NHK Symphony Orchestra principal Hori Masafumi, violists Matthew Hunter and Hans-Peter Ochsenhofer, Curtis Institute of Music professor Shumel Ashkenasi, Virginia Music Festival director David Ehrlich, and Northwestern University professor Mathias Tacke. Since 2000, she has performed viola solos, chamber music, and ensemble concerts at prestigious venues including the National Centre for the Performing Arts (Beijing), Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, University of Virginia Arts Center, Beijing Concert Hall, Zhongshan Concert Hall, Tianjin Conservatory of Music, and Shenyang Conservatory of Music. As a member of the China National Symphony Orchestra, she has toured in the United States, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Australia, South Korea, and North Korea. In 2019, as part of the orchestra’s chamber ensemble, she toured New Zealand—including Wellington, Auckland, and the Cook Islands (Avarua and Alofi)—to participate in events celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. She has also performed at numerous major state-level cultural and diplomatic events and has been received by Chinese national leaders including Hu Jintao, Wen Jiabao, and Xi Jinping.

Wei Shi

Wei Shi, a Chinese pianist and piano duo artist, currently serves as collaborative pianist with the China National Symphony Orchestra. Together with her twin sister, Rong Shi, she co-founded the Piano Duo Shi, an emerging two-piano ensemble recognized for its musical synergy and refined interpretations. In 2024, Wei Shi earned her Konzertexamen in Piano Duo Performance with highest distinction from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock, where the duo studied with the renowned German piano duo Professors Hans-Peter and Volker Stenzl. During their studies in Germany, they received the Helga Drews Foundation Scholarship and the Bruno Frey Music Prize and Excellence Scholarship from the State Academy of Music in Ochsenhausen. Chang Su | Saxophone Teacher

Dr. Chang Su is a saxophonist, composer, and current board member of the China Saxophone Society. In August 2019, he graduated from the University of Northern Colorado, becoming China’s first Doctor of Arts in Jazz Studies, with a major in Jazz Studies and a minor in Jazz Composition. As a performer, his style is deeply influenced by bebop and hard bop. Serving as the principal saxophonist of the University of Northern Colorado Jazz Ensemble One, he has had the honor of performing alongside jazz legends such as Chris Potter, Deborah Brown, Joey DeFrancesco, Sheila Jordan, Greg Gisbert, Dave Liebman, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Randy Brecker, and Bob Sheppard. As a composer, Su blends traditional jazz with Eastern musical elements, giving his works a distinctive character. In July 2018, he released his debut big band jazz album Chasing Dreams, featuring six original big band compositions. In January 2017, he was named one of the “Young Jazz Composers of 2017” by the Jazz Education Network (JEN) and presented his nominated big band work Zhongshan Park at the JEN conference in New Orleans. In May 2017, he was invited to perform Zhongshan Park at the International Society of Jazz Arrangers and Composers (ISJAC) seminar in Florida. In January 2016, Su was awarded the prestigious David Baker Scholarship by the Jazz Education Network and invited to participate in the JEN conference in Louisville, recognizing his efforts in promoting jazz education in China.

Yangzi Wang | Violist

Yangzi Wang is a Chinese-American violist who has been a member of the China Philharmonic Orchestra since 2020. She has performed in numerous internationally renowned concert halls, including Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall (New York), St. John’s Church, Berlin Philharmonie, Munich Philharmonie, Smetana Hall (Prague), Dresden Concert Hall, Mannheim Concert Hall, Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, Singapore Esplanade, and major venues in Malaysia. She has collaborated with distinguished conductors such as Seiji Ozawa, Alan Gilbert, Yan-Pascal Tortelier, John Williams, Ralf Rachlew, and George Manahan. Wang’s performances are highly versatile, encompassing solo, chamber, and orchestral repertoire. In 2022, she performed the Rococo Variations as a soloist with the China Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2013, she performed Bartók’s Viola Concerto as a soloist with the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra and later at the Heifetz Music Festival in Virginia, receiving high praise from the festival founder. In chamber music, Wang won first prize in the Fuertes String Quartet Competition for three consecutive years (2016–2018) and first prize at the Ruth Gould String Quartet Competition in 2019, followed by a prize-winning recital in New York. During her studies abroad, she often served as principal violist for the Singapore Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Symphony Orchestra and the Manhattan School of Music orchestra. She was also invited to perform and rehearse with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and the Malaysian Symphony Orchestra. In 2016, she joined the Singapore Symphony Orchestra on a one-month European tour, achieving major success. While studying in the U.S., she frequently performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. Wang regularly performs at international music festivals, including the Tanglewood Music Festival, Western Music Camp, Heifetz Festival, and Seiji Ozawa International Music Academy. She has collaborated with internationally renowned musicians such as Nobuko Imai, Dominique, Yo-Yo Ma, Jian Wang, Liwei Qin, Lang Lang, Lawrence Dutton, Sylvia Phelps, Thomas Riebl, Martha Strongin Katz, Heidi Castleman, Ralph Keshbaum, Timothy Eddy, Mark Steinberg, the Shanghai Quartet, and the Juilliard String Quartet. Born into an artistic family, Wang began violin studies at two and a half years old and piano at age five. In 2007, she was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music Affiliated High School and in 2010 entered the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music at the National University of Singapore, graduating with honors and a bachelor’s degree. From 2014 to 2018, she studied at the Manhattan School of Music on a full scholarship, earning dual master’s degrees in Solo Performance and Orchestral Performance, and subsequently completed a one-year Artist Diploma in Orchestral Performance. Her principal teachers include Liu Mu, Wang Shaowu, Zhang Manqin, Pinchas Zukerman, Patti, Kopec, and Karen Dreyfuss.

Weidong Wei | Oboe Professor

Weidong Wei is a professor of oboe at the Central Conservatory of Music, where he is the first oboe doctoral advisor in China. He previously served as the associate principal oboe of the China National Symphony Orchestra. In 2010, he was a jury member for the Mozart International Woodwind Competition in Italy. Wei has been recognized as an “Advanced Teacher in Three Educations” and an “Excellent Mentor for Outstanding Innovative Talent” at the Central Conservatory of Music. In 2005, his oboe monograph Oboe: From Beginner to Advanced was published by the People’s Music Publishing House. He has been invited to give masterclasses and solo recitals at internationally renowned institutions, including the Verdi Conservatory in Italy, the Royal Danish Academy of Music, the Stuttgart Music Academy in Germany, and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore. Wei has collaborated with music masters such as Seiji Ozawa, Tito Vito, Plasson, Lang Lang, and Zubin Mehta. He frequently serves as a juror for national and international wind competitions, and his students have won numerous awards in international oboe competitions. He served as the director of the inaugural International Oboe Festival at the Central Conservatory of Music in 2011, 2014, and 2017, successfully organizing the festival each time. Wei is also an endorsed artist for the German Monik Oboe brand.

Quan Wen | French Horn Teacher

Quan Wen is a French horn teacher at East Coast Music Experimental School and currently serves as Deputy Secretary-General of the China Horn Association. He graduated in 2000 from the Sibelius Academy in Finland with a Master’s degree in French horn performance. With over a decade of teaching experience, Wen has trained numerous award-winning students. Among them, Yunyuan Zeng received support from the Chinese Ministry of Culture (BoB Program) and won second prize at the 8th Jeju International Brass Competition (2013), third prize in the Brass Section at the Saint Petersburg International Youth Competition (2014), and second prize in the Professional Division of the U.S. International Horn Competition (2015)—many of these awards being firsts for Chinese participants. Another student, Ye Pan, serves as principal horn in a European professional orchestra. Many of his students have also achieved excellent results in competitions both in China and abroad. As a performer, Wen frequently collaborates with professional orchestras domestically and internationally, participates in major music festivals, and tours across Asia and Europe. He is also invited to serve as a juror for professional orchestral auditions and competitions and to give horn masterclasses.

Min Yang | Violin Teacher

Min Yang was born into a musical family in Beijing and began studying the violin at age five, making her first stage appearance at six. At nine, she was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music Affiliated Elementary School, where she studied under Professors Liu Peiyan and Sui Keqiang, continuing her studies there through university graduation. After completing her undergraduate studies, she received a postgraduate scholarship from the Royal Northern College of Music in the UK. Studying under renowned Russian violinist Lydia Mordkovich for two years, she earned certificates in both Advanced Studies in Musical Performance and Professional Performance. Upon graduation, she was immediately appointed as a first violinist with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. Three years later, she became assistant principal of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then, she has been invited as guest principal by the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and West Australia Symphony Orchestra, and as guest associate principal by The Halle Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, and Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra. Yang also held a position for five years in the first violin section (fourth chair) of the London Symphony Orchestra. During this time, she performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician across Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. She also participated in numerous film recordings, including Star Wars. After leaving the London Symphony Orchestra, she founded a chamber ensemble named after her, composed of principal players from the LSO, and toured internationally. Following a special concert for the King of Thailand’s birthday, she was appointed principal of the Bangkok Siam Philharmonic Orchestra, while also holding the principal position with the UAE National Symphony Orchestra. In addition to performing, Yang is active in cultural exchange. In 2016, she organized performances for the West Australia Symphony Orchestra at the Abu Dhabi Music Festival and the 19th Beijing International Music Festival. In 2017, she facilitated a tour of the China Philharmonic Orchestra String Quartet in Dubai.

Bo Zhang | Cello Teacher

Bo Zhang is a national first-class artist and an outstanding cellist of the China National Symphony Orchestra. He currently serves as principal cellist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (USA) and guest principal cellist of the Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra. He has been invited to perform at the Beijing International Modern Music Festival and is a member of the China Musicians Association. Recognized as a “Citizen ‘Hundred Cores, Hundred Craftsmen’ Chinese Master Artist,” Zhang graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music (China) and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (USA). He studied under Professor Chen Yuan, a renowned cello educator at the Central Conservatory, and Professor Lee Fiser, a distinguished cellist and educator at the University of Cincinnati.

Mimi Zhang | French Horn Teacher

"Her music has shaped a truly extraordinary artistic journey." — Instrument Magazine, China Dr. Mimi Zhang is an Associate Professor at the State University of New York and former principal horn and faculty member of the Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra. She began her musical journey at age three, studying piano, and later focused on the French horn under her father, Professor Zhang Chengxin, President of the China French Horn Association. Dr. Zhang pursued advanced studies in the United States, earning full scholarships to the Manhattan School of Music, Yale School of Music, and Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where she received her Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in 2016. Between 2012 and 2017, she performed with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra and the National Ballet of the USA while serving as an artist-lecturer at Yale University. She became the first brass soloist to win the Spotlight Competition in the U.S., performing at the Los Angeles Music Center and featured in the Los Angeles Times. As a performing artist, Dr. Zhang has participated in the Aspen Music Festival and Norfolk Music Festival, recording with renowned musicians, and has performed alongside principal musicians from the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Philadelphia Orchestra at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. She has been invited to international music festivals across the U.S. and Europe, collaborating with world-famous conductors. She was also featured in a personal interview on New York Chinese TV. Bing Chen | Professor of Conducting & Party Secretary of the Vocal Department, Central Conservatory of Music

Bing Chen, born in 1981 in Kuiwen District, Weifang, Shandong, is a Chinese conductor, opera director, and professor at the Conducting Department of the Central Conservatory of Music, as well as the Party Secretary of the Vocal Department. She holds a doctoral degree and is a member of the Communist Party of China. Chen began piano studies at the age of three and started conducting at seventeen. In 2000, she was admitted to the Conducting Department of the Central Conservatory of Music with top honors. In 2006, she became a permanent conductor at the China National Opera, participating in the staging of dozens of Chinese and Western operas, including La Traviata and The White-Haired Girl. In 2013, she pursued further studies in the United States, attending the Metropolitan Opera and the San Francisco Opera, and earned an Opera Directing Artist Diploma from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, conducting operas such as The Barber of Seville. Since returning to China in 2017, she has directed performances of symphonic choral works including Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Mahler’s Eighth Symphony, leading the Central Conservatory of Music Choir in nearly 200 national-level performances. Alex Morris | Jazz Drums Instructor

Alex Morris graduated from Oberlin Conservatory of Music in the United States, where he studied under world-renowned jazz drummer Billy Hart. Upon graduation, he received the CIGSIE Grant and the Dean’s Jazz Studies Award. In 2021, he earned a Master’s degree in Jazz History and Research from Rutgers University. Alex Morris has performed on stages around the world, including London Wembley Stadium, Disney Hall, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Lincoln Center in New York, Le Trianon in Paris, Kuala Lumpur Merdeka Stadium, Beijing Wanda Center, Beijing Workers’ Gymnasium, Beijing Zhongshan Concert Hall, Wuhan Qintai Concert Hall, Guangzhou International Sports Arena, Star Hall in Hong Kong, as well as venues across Asia, Europe, Australia, North Africa, the Caribbean, and the United States. Since 2010, he has collaborated with a wide range of artists and bands including Cui Jian, Xu Wei, Jolin Tsai, G.E.M., Guo Ding, Qubi, Fu Han (lead singer of Houhai Shark), Voice Fragment Band, Han Geng, Ning Jing, Faye (lead singer of F.I.R.), Hu Yanbin, Shang Wenjie, Sa Dingding, William Wei, Xie Chunhua, as well as jazz legends such as Marcus Belgrave (former collaborator of Ray Charles), Robin Eubanks, and Rufus Reid. Antonio Originale Di Crisci | Drums & Music Production Instructor

Antonio Originale Di Crisci is an accomplished Italian drummer and music producer. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Drums and Percussion and a Master’s degree in Music Production and Recording, both from San Pietro a Majella Conservatory in Naples, Italy. He has taught jazz drums and music production at the MAMA Modern Popular Music Arts Center and served as a sound engineer for the Italian Embassy, contributing to multiple music and official events. Antonio is the author of the drum method book “Pump Your 16th Notes” and has toured Europe with bands such as Parbleu and Funkin Machine. He is also the resident drummer at Godfather Studio.

Ember Swift | Contemporary/Pop Vocal Instructor

Ember Swift is an original singer-songwriter known for her versatile approach to contemporary music. Since moving to Beijing in 2008, she has toured extensively across North America, Australia, Europe, and Asia. Although the global pandemic temporarily slowed international touring, Ember Swift has continued to create and release new music. Since 1996, she has released 13 albums blending various styles of original pop music, drawing inspiration from jazz, folk, and rock.

Gabriel Beaudoin | Guitar Instructor

Gabriel Beaudoin is a versatile guitarist from Canada, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies from Concordia University (Montreal) and a Master’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Toronto. He is a member of El-live Productions, one of the world’s largest international live music companies, and has performed globally in styles ranging from jazz, rock, blues, Top 40, Motown, to Broadway. Gabriel has collaborated with artists such as Jolin Tsai, Cai Xukun, Zhang Liangying, Tan Weiwei, Dimash, Yuan Yawei, and Huang Qishan. Active in Beijing’s music scene, he regularly supports international artists and is a permanent member of the band for singer Siqin Gaowa (Inner Mongolia).

Noah Hocker | Jazz Trumpet Instructor

Profile Noah Hocker is an accomplished trumpet player from Portland, USA, born into a musical family. He began piano at age 3, studied trumpet at age 10 with his mother’s encouragement, and at 16 started jazz studies with jazz master Alan Jones. He later studied under renowned American jazz trumpeter Terrell Stafford. After completing graduate studies, Noah moved to New York to pursue a professional music career. In 2017, he was awarded Best Soloist of the Year by the “World Improvisation” festival in Madrid, Spain. He has performed with internationally touring jazz bands including Gordon Webster, Michael Gamble and his Rhythm Serenaders, Jonathan Stout and the Hot Sardines. In 2019, Noah relocated to China, releasing original singles and collaborating with top Chinese singers, labels, producers, and TV shows. A versatile and well-rounded musician, he is deeply passionate about jazz, expressing emotion and understanding of the world through his music. His personal albums include the modern jazz album “Common Thread” (2017) and the swing jazz album “Head to Head” (2019).

Ma Shihua | Electronic Music Production Instructor

Ma Shihua is a faculty member of the Composition Department at China Conservatory of Music, specializing in electronic music composition, and holds a Doctorate in Electronic Music Composition from the Central Conservatory of Music. He is also a recognized new media artist. Ma focuses on computer music and audiovisual arts. As a cross-media artist, he has consistently presented works at major international computer music events. His interactive multimedia compositions have received awards at the Beijing International Electronic Music Festival and have been presented at the Asian New Media Art Days. His new media music works have been performed worldwide, including in China, the United States, and Europe, at events such as the Beijing International Electronic Music Festival, Shanghai Electronic Music Week, Poland Audio ART Festival, 2016 World Electronic Music Year Conference, 2018 ISCM New Music Days, 2020 ICMC International Computer Music Conference, and 2021 NIME Conference on New Interfaces for Musical Expression. His installation art has been exhibited at venues such as the 2015 B3+Beijing Dynamic Re-imaging Exhibition (Central Academy of Fine Arts Museum), the 2018 China Music New Media Alliance Installation Exhibition, and the 2021 Changsha Wuyong Art Museum “Invisible Sound” Installation Exhibition. Pei Shizhen | Jazz Reading & Jazz Piano Instructor

Pei Shizhen is a seasoned jazz pianist and performing artist, currently teaching Jazz Reading and Jazz Piano at BEIJING EASTBANK ACADEMY OF MUSIC. She joined the school in September 2024 and brings extensive experience in both performance and pedagogy. Pei has been teaching jazz piano, jazz harmony, and ear training/solfège since 2017 in Beijing. Prior to this, she held teaching positions at several prestigious institutions in South Korea, including Daegu Arts University, Kyungbuk College of Technology, Gimcheon University, Seoul Arts College, and Gimcheon Arts High School. As an active performing artist, Pei has appeared on stages in the United States, South Korea, Japan, and China since 2013. Wang Peng | Jazz Drums Instructor

Wang Peng is a distinguished drummer, percussionist, and music producer, and a graduate of Berklee College of Music, USA. He holds titles such as WFD (World Fastest Drummer) competitor and Global Artist for Pearl Drums (Japan). Wang Peng began studying percussion at a young age and frequently performed at music and drum festivals. At 15, he was featured on Beijing TV programs “Juesheng Shijie” and “8 Qu Nengren Bang”, and at 16, he became a brand education consultant and the youngest ambassador for the internationally renowned Pearl brand. Ye Bei | Modern Music Instructor

Profile Ye Bei is a renowned mainland Chinese singer and musician, born into a musical family and a graduate of the China Conservatory of Music. She is considered one of the representatives of campus folk music in China. In 1996, she signed with Mai Tian Music, becoming their first female singer. That same year, she participated in Gao Xiaosong’s solo album “Youth Without Regrets”, performing a duet with Lao Lang and three solo tracks: “B Minor After the Rain,” “The Era of White Clothes,” and “Echo.” In May 1998, she recorded the Mandarin theme song “Meditation” for Disney’s animated film Mulan, receiving high praise from Disney’s production directors. In February 2000, she signed a recording contract with Warner Music, one of the world’s “Big Five” record labels, while continuing her performance contract with Mai Tian Music. Yu Xuanlong | Guitar & Band Ensemble Instructor

Yu Xuanlong studied under Taiwanese jazz educator Zhai Heishan and has been active in live performance and music education since 2000. He has participated in recording projects such as Zhejiang TV’s “The Voice of Dreams” (2016), the CCTV Online Spring Festival Gala, and performed as a guitarist in the “On the Fields of Hope” concert with three renowned tenors. In 2020, he served as the guitarist for Black Lemon. Yu Xuanlong’s students have earned recognition such as the Best Guitar Performance Award at the 5th China-Japan Music Exchange Competition, and his students’ university application and admission success rate has reached 100%. Cai Yiqing | Piano Accompaniment Instructor

Born in Taiwan, China, Cai Yiqing holds the highest performance diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel), equivalent to a Doctor of Performance, where she studied under the renowned pianist Aleksandar Madzar. She earned her master’s degree from the University of the Arts Bern (Hochschule der Künste Bern), studying with pianist Tomasz Herbut. She has been selected multiple times for solo and chamber music performances and has actively participated in masterclasses, receiving guidance from internationally acclaimed musicians such as Deng Taishan, Chen Yuxiang, Natalia Trull, Akiko Ebi, Seymour Lipkin, Fernando Puchol, and Nelson Delle-Vigne Fabbri. Cai Yiqing has extensive performance experience and has held solo recitals in Bern, Switzerland.

Tao Fan | Conducting Instructor

Tao Fan is a nationally recognized first-class conductor and the Resident Conductor of the China Radio and Film Symphony Orchestra. Known for his skillful technique, passionate energy, and expressive intensity, he is widely regarded as a highly talented and distinguished conductor. In 2000, he received the Special Jury Prize at the Sibelius International Conducting Competition in Finland, awarded by the Sibelius family foundation, and subsequently studied under the renowned conductor Jorma Panula. In 2001, he received a full scholarship to study in the United States under the guidance of the eminent conductor and educator Philip Spork. Tao Fan has collaborated with numerous prestigious orchestras across Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania. His guest conducting engagements include the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Buenos Aires Philharmonic, Colombia National Philharmonic, Antalya Symphony Orchestra, Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra (Czech Republic), Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra, Oberlin Symphony Orchestra (USA), South Arizona Symphony Orchestra, Johns Hopkins Symphony Orchestra, Wheeler Bay Symphony Orchestra (Australia), and orchestras at Brazilian music festivals. Jinyu Shen | Young Conductor (Based in Germany)

Jinyu Shen, of Mongolian ethnicity, is a talented young conductor who has served as the Principal Conductor of the AIR Contemporary Music Collective and as the conductor of the Aiyuejia Youth Choir. She is also a recipient of the China National Scholarship. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the Conducting Department of the Central Conservatory of Music and was directly admitted to the graduate program, studying under Professors Xia Xiaotang and Zheng Xiaoying. Shen furthered her studies in Germany at the Robert Schumann Hochschule, majoring in conducting and piano, graduating with top honors. During her studies, she trained under the renowned German conductors and educators Rüdiger Bohn and Christian von Gehren, and additionally studied choral conducting under Professor Timo Nuoranne. During her time in school, she served as assistant conductor and choral conductor for opera and oratorio productions including La Bohème, Madame Butterfly, Tosca, Così fan tutte, Die Schöpfung, Elias, Die lustige Witwe, and Shangsi. She also held assistant conductor positions with the Essener Jugend Symphonic Orchester and the Jungend Philharmonisches Orchester Niedersachsen. As Principal Conductor of the AIR Contemporary Music Collective, she has successfully premiered dozens of works, including chamber operas, and conducted at events such as the Hangzhou Contemporary Music Festival. Her collaborations extend to numerous orchestras, including the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Westfalen Neue Philharmonie, Rheinische Philharmonie, Duisburger Philharmoniker, Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester, Essen Philharmonie, Romania’s Filarmonica Dinu Lipatti, Sinfonieorchester der RSH, and Musikfabrik Ensemble. Shu Ya | Choral Conducting Faculty Young Conductor

Shu Ya is a rising young conductor. In 2009 and again in 2014, she was admitted to the Conducting Department of the China Conservatory of Music as the top-ranked student in her major, completing both her undergraduate and master’s degrees. She studied under Professors Sang Yeesong and Wu Lingfen, focusing on choral conducting and orchestral conducting. In 2017, she continued her studies at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), studying orchestral and opera conducting under Mark Gibson, Head of the Conducting Division. She received a full scholarship and served as a graduate assistant. Since 2009, she has participated in numerous prestigious international conducting masterclasses, including the Berlin International Conducting Masterclass (Germany), masterclasses led by Vijay Upadhyaya of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Neil Varon of the Eastman School of Music, and renowned Chinese conductors Yan Liangkun and Han Zhongjie. She consistently delivered outstanding performances throughout these programs. In 2013, she was the only female conductor invited from mainland China to the U.S. to participate in the National Conference of Conductors in Dallas. She also joined the Asia Pacific Youth Choir, representing mainland China in the opening ceremony performance to great acclaim. In December 2014, she conducted the 2015 Beijing University Students’ New Year Concert at the National Centre for the Performing Arts. In March 2015, she was selected for the National Arts Fund’s Young Conductor Training Program. In June 2015, she conducted the Tianjin Symphony Orchestra as part of the Young Conductors Concert Series. In March 2016, she traveled to Seattle with the Harmonia Voices Choir to participate in the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Conference, where they presented a special concert of Chinese choral works. Since 2016, she has successfully conducted Carmen, La Traviata, Tosca, Suor Angelica, Don Pasquale, Così fan tutte, and other operas at CCM, receiving widespread praise. Suo Rima | Piano (Secondary Instrument) Teacher

Suo Rima studied piano at the Primary School and Middle School affiliated with the Central Conservatory of Music, and later graduated from the Musicology Department of the Central Conservatory of Music. She holds the LRSM diploma in piano performance and a piano teaching diploma from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), as well as Grade 8 in music theory.
