“Melody of Love – 2021 Music Sail Charity Concert”, see you in Shanghai on February 14th!
During the Spring Festival, in addition to enjoying a feast with family, a musical extravaganza is equally unmissable. On February 14th (the third day of the Lunar New Year), the Shanghai Oriental Art Center Concert Hall will present "Melody of Love," conducted by Principal Chai Liang. This charity concert, initiated by the Music Sail Children's Funding Project, features not only wonderful performances by many veteran musicians but also performances by the "Sailors" (young musicians) currently studying at the Central Conservatory of Music.
Using music to express the warmest hopes, the Zhongyin Dingshi Talent Cultivation Public Welfare Program was launched.
Recently, Zhongyin Dingshi, in conjunction with the Music Sail Children's Sponsorship Project, launched a public welfare talent development program. This program selects several musically talented students annually from Beijing Dandelion Middle School (a school specifically founded for the children of migrant workers) through written tests, interviews, and parent meetings, providing them with free opportunities for professional music training. Subsequently, the program will select two students each year based on their overall academic performance, offering them free admission to Zhongyin Dingshi High School and subsequent opportunities for overseas study.
Music Sail is seven years old now, which should be enough for a first-grade elementary school student. Over these seven years, we've experienced joy and sorrow. We've found the true meaning of Music Sail's existence through constant setbacks; and we've examined its shortcomings amidst each success.
“Sails of Music”—A Chinese-Style Music Rescue System for Venezuela—Compiled from a report in the British classical music magazine *The Strad*
“In fact, it seems easier to establish a music aid system like Venezuela in China. People are willing to donate to charity, and what they care about more is whether the funds raised can be used properly.”
Music illuminates life and raises the sails of hope.
Music brightens life, and children's innocent and radiant smiles showcase the beauty of life. The sails of hope rise slowly in this melodic flow of time, fluttering in the wind.
When the 26- or 27-year-old South American Dudamel stood on the conductor's podium, explaining to the veteran German musicians that "Beethoven should be like this," a sense of astonishment filled the air. In people's minds, classical music has always meant "experience" and "maturity," and possesses a "hereditary" aristocratic air; on the conductor's podium, symbolizing leadership, apart from Bernstein, which "giant" figure wasn't shaped by the European system? Yet, at the Mahler International Conducting Competition held in Germany in 2004, the most outstanding first-place winner, upon closer inspection by the media, turned out to be from the traditionally marginalized Latin American world. This marked the beginning of his era—one of the biggest anomalies in the classical music world in recent years.
Hand in hand, one step, two steps, three steps, four steps, let’s walk forward.
"The most painful and tragic thing about poverty is not hunger or homelessness, but a nameless feeling, a feeling of having no identity, no dignity, and no recognition. But in music, in orchestras and choirs, such guidance can give children a noble heart, and they can become role models in their communities and families. What Music Sails does is to help children get away from the inferiority and loneliness caused by poverty through music."
A Touching Story That Transcends Skin Color—A Heartfelt Sharing Between the Mark Morris Dance Company and Members of the Music Sail Troupe
On the afternoon of November 13th, the Mark Morris Dance Troupe and the young dancers from "Sails of Music" held a heartwarming and touching charity event in the school's fifth-floor concert hall. People of different skin colors and languages, yet sharing the same unrestrained and graceful dance moves, gathered here with the same loving hearts to spread love, share love, and dance together in the sky of true love.
